Captains’ Charity Day Friday 21st August 2015

Over €21,000 raised

Each year the Captains of Howth Golf Club choose a charity which will be the beneficiary of a special fundraising day.  This year our Captain Joe Richardson and Lady Captain Mary Judge have chosen two charities which provide support to patients, their families, friends and carers.

  1. ARC Cancer Support Centres.

(At 65 Eccles St. & 559 South Circular Rd.)

  1. Cairdeas Alzheimer Day Centre.

(Situated in the grounds of St. Joseph’s Hospital Raheny)

We all have been affected in some way, whereby family members or friends have suffered from these diseases.

These two centres provide much needed and much appreciated support and advice through professional specific care.  They now need our support in raising funds which will enable them to continue to provide their full day programmes.

We are asking for your support in either entering a team or sponsoring a hole.

Howth Golf Club gives all facilities without fee or charge for this charity day.

Golf at Howth

Founded in 1916 the heath land links style course was designed by the renowned golfer and course architect James Braid, a 5 times winner of “The Open” Golf Championship who can count the design of the prestigious Kings and Queens Courses at Gleneagles amongst his greatest achievements.

James was well known for including dog leg design golf holes in his course designs and the 5th hole in particular is an excellent example of how he blended a great golf hole into the unique Howth Heathers. The exceptional views from the 16th tee are worthy of mention in any golf guide.
